ParaOlympian and Wounded Warrior “T3” Leadership: Brad Snyder!

Brad Snyder was born on this date 1984.  An inspirational American multi Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalist as a swimmer and triathlete on several U.S. Warrior Games and Paralympic teams from 2012-2020.  His amazing leadership style:

  • TEAMWORK: U.S. Naval Academy Class of 2006.  Captain of the Swim Team.  Lost his eyesight in 2011 from an IED explosion while serving in Afghanistan as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Officer.
  • TONE:  One of the best motivational speakers out there!  Author of the inspirational “Fire in My Eyes: An American Warrior’s Journey From Being Blinded on the Battlefield to Gold Medal Victory.”  Currently working on his PhD from Princeton.   “It’s not about winning, it’s about competing. It’s about putting yourself out there … setting a goal that’s beyond what your current capability is and then holding yourself to it and putting in the time and trying to develop to a point where you can do something beyond what you thought you were capable of.  That’s what I’m trying to inspire people to do.”  “I am not going to let my blindness build a brick wall around me. I’d give my eyes one hundred times again to have the chance to do what I have done, and what I can still do.”
  • TENACITY:  Overcame adversities large and small … from multiple surgeries and procedures, to loss of complete eyesight and partial hearing … ”When you’re patching your life back together and figuring out how to adjust to blindness, you’re not good at anything. Walking was a challenge. Cooking’s a challenge. Dressing and color matching is a challenge. There are all these things that used to be no problem that are all of a sudden really challenging. “I was hungry for the opportunity to prove this idea that I’m not a victim,” Snyder said. “I wanted to show that I’m not suffering, I’m adapting. I’m struggling a little bit, but watch me. I’m going to succeed.”
